My daughter likes and reads the Archie Digest books. She mostly likes the Betty and Veronica titles.
Another great illo. So fun to see these drawn in your style. Who's next?
Good ol memories! This is so great Michelle! You did a beautiful job on these characters and the interior, the idea is so cool too!
I'm digging the jukebox.
Ohhhh... I also loved Archie Comics. I recall that my sister Lilia used to draw Archie, Betty, Veronica and Carlos on little pieces of paper in order to play with them. I loved to see her playing like that, she even made a cardboard house for them!
I like ur illo very very much! It's gorgeous and very detailed :)
This week on IF has made me truly happy. Contributions are great!
I really love your work! They're so adorable and nostalgic. :)
this is great... you have such a crisp clean and unique style!
Amazing...Archie was antique even in the 80's, he's the same age as Bob Dylan!
Love it! I too was big on the Archie comics...my fave was always Betty. Great job!
Archie and his gang are ageless. The sixties were when I was reading their exploits... and there was that bubblegum band of studio musicians. But that's another decade.
Your characters are so much more expressive than what is sold in those comics.
Your work is specially enchanting, a sweetness touche, Michelle you are brilliant!
Ahh! this is fantastic! I loooooooooooooved archie comics when I was a kid. I used to make my mom buy me them everytime I went to the grocery store with her! Great job!
Beautiful illustration and memory- your colors are always awesome!
Wow, I used to read them in the sixties :P I even had Betty and Veronica paper dolls! This is excellent Michelle :)
HA ! HA !! Great idea!! Love the fun and color in your illo!
I always wondered if Archie was ever to get Veronica & Betty into a threesome...
Nice interpretation of the characters, with your own style shining through.
Loved Archies comics as well, although I was reading them in the 60's. Very cute.
What fun! I love that jughead is in the background snapping his fingers to a tune. I wonder what's playin on the jukebox? Could it be a hit song by the Archies?
Ah! Delicious! Lovely use of colour. And I really enjoy the kinda simplification of the Archie style.
I was reading about some or other new controversy recently. Apparently the publishers are trying out a new 'photorealistic' look for one special issue. It looks hideous!
I think you should urgently submit your look to them. If they've GOT to change Archie, at least let them change it for the better!
My 80s stab is Old lady. (You've already seen it. Thanks for you lovely comment!)
Blue skies

Awesome work and a great idea! Yea!
Extra cool as usual!

I LIKED ARCHIE TOOO!!!!!
Beautiful illustration. Clean and colorful.
Once again your style shows through...the first time I saw an Archie comic I thought it was an 'antique' issue that had been preserved and was upset there wasn't any spidey or superman about...I'm still amazed that certain comics continue as the modern youth's tastes seem so far removed from such styles...
I love this! I used to read that and I loved when it became a Sat morning cartoon.
Thanks for all the messages everyone!!! Really appreciate all the comments! Thanks!
Wow, great piece! I'm glad you stopped by my blog, since it gave me a chance to visit yours! Excellent work, I really like your style. I am trying to "simplify" some of my work lately and you have hit the nail on the head here. Cool also that you are a fan of Garth Bruner's work... he and I have been friends for many many years... lots of great art stories there! Anyway, keep up the greatness. Very inspiring!!
I love reading them, too and even until now. so cool illustration michelle!
heehhe, good illustration, Brandon Walsh is there!!!
archie, jughead and company lol wow thats going back for me way before the 80's but then archie is one of those toooons that is timeless. like ur version too great colors
It's awesome that you are able to illustrate this in your own style, yet there is no mistaking the Archies. Nice work Michelle!
Nice take on the archie crew. Nice to see them lanaized. :)
i love this, i was a fan also and seeing it with your style makes it that much more special
Boy, lots of great memories this topic. Great job!!
LOL! VERY CUTE Archie commics, nice work! :-D
That whole 1950s redux was huge then, I recall. Have you seen the newest version of Veronica and Betty? Ugh...they tried to "update" them...now they look like Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan. No joke!
LOL! I used to do that too! I loved Archie's! This is soooo perfect! Great illo!
Awesome Archie! Great work on all of the characters. Archie should probably kept his eyes on the ice cream float though. He-he..
This is great!!! I love your Buzz too!
Fun work - very nice!
AWEsomE! Archie rules! I drew a diner in my IF this week too!!!! :-) !
I love your colors of the Eighties;
that creates a young and merry environment ;o)

Heh. I was addicted to Archie Comics. Awesome, Mitch.
Thanks guys...
Thanks Roz :)
I love that jukebox and the whole scene is Archie-really good likeness in each face. So much fun in this piece, and your unique style is always a treat!
Great fun colors! I had just one Archie comic that I read over and over again! The cartoon was good too.
I remember those comics. Fun! And I like your illustration!

wow, i was too for awhile! ;) Great work!
You've succeeded in making these classic characters your own! Love it!
Excellent work! I love your depiction!
The Archie comics are great! I've a couple friends who draw those and apparently it's a great company to work for.
Did you hear their changing the Archis Comics line??? I read about it from comics expert R.C. Harvey that had it in a column of his. I briefly checked the Archis site and didn't see the page Harvey had linked to. I did see the Katy Keene page and that's the style they're going for. Here's that link:

There's such a demand to be "realistic". Realistic???? It's comics!!!
HI Rob...Thanks for the message...ya, they do want to go towards the "realistic type" this time...I do like the ol' cartoony style better though. Thanks for stopping by!
Michelle, what a blast from the past! I, too, loved Archie comics, and have kept all my digests. My favorites were the double digests, and I'd buy them when my family went on roadtrips. They kept me occupied for hours!
Thanks for the trip down memory lane! :)
Ohh I've always loved Archie. Was one of my favorite comic when I was growing up, great momories :)
Cute and darling work as always!!
I love your stuff! I'm just starting to learn the medium of the computer, and your images are really inspiring.
I love it! Archie was one of my favorite comics as well!
I love it! Archie was one of my favorite comics as well!
Thank you for your comments on my blog! I've never read an archie comic (i think they've never been published in germany) but i like your illustration :)
